We refer our club players to Alpha Training & Rehab for advanced technical training and individual player development. Alpha Training’s signature circuit training program was designed with input from a former Serbian Youth-National Player and incorporates many concepts from the Croatian Youth Academy.

The purpose of the program is to support and develop players with proficient technical ability so they can play the game at a higher level, can “perfect” their craft, or seek to transition from the recreational level to the club level. The circuit training program has been designed in such a way that young or new players can play alongside more skilled players, meaning age and skill are not barriers to participating.

Much like our training sessions, Alpha Academy’s group training sessions begin with fast-paced circuit training that guarantees thousands of proper touches on the ball. The focus, of course, is on developing ball mastery, 1v1 skills, shot finishing, coordination, speed, agility, and quickness. Players receive one-on-one assistance from experienced coaches and are taught how to properly execute each skill (because the way a skill is performed does matter).

Sessions end with 1v1s, 2v2s and small-sided games (“SSGs”). The 11v11 environment is a relatively poor way of learning, and SSGs are considered the most effective way to develop youth soccer skills. With SSGs, players get 5x more touches on the ball, are constantly involved in the play, are forced to make rapid decisions, and get opportunities to score more goals (which is more fun!).

In addition, this program allows for tangible development of teamwork, leadership, coachability, accountability to self and others, and perseverance. Ultimately, this program is intended to enhance a player’s abilities so that they can experience success at the highest level and can develop a true passion for the game.
